Should you deviate from your scheduled training sessions? The answer sometimes is yes. I had a Tuesday (5-12-15) hill sprint session scheduled and I'm skipping it. Monday's training session left me roasted. I kicked up the total volume and am feeling it, so instead of a mediocre session today I am going to rest up, recover and key in to make it up on Wednesday. Remember, a key component of long term success is consistency in training. Yes, consistency in actually training days, but also in intensity. Intensity is a slippery slope though, and careful attention to your actually physiological state is crucial to long term gains and also injury prevention. I take my recovery seriously, as a matter of fact - I think I'll go take a nap!
