As my email inbox fills up with the same questions day after day I will offer a "position stand" in reference to the topic at hand. In the case of "What to look for in a trainer?" I offer the following:
If your "trainer," (and I use that word VERY loosely...) monitors form, tempo, rest periods, load, volume, progression etc. Congrats, you may have found an actual professional.
If they spend next to nothing on the above but an ample amount of time is dedicated to how you are a unique snowflake and other non training related jibber jabber take heed....you are paying to train with what amounts to a friend. Sadly, this example is 90+ percent of the industry.
