1. It invariably leads to a decrease in muscle mass, less muscle leads to a lower metabolic rate.
2. It disrupts enzymatic activity, lowering fat burning enzymes and increasing fat storing enzymes.
3. It disrupt hormones, increasing insulin and stress hormones leading to an over-activation of the sympathetic nervous system and eventual adrenal exhaustion.
